What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is based on ancient Eastern healing practices for integrated balance of mind, body and spirit, facilitating good health and well-being.
Mindfulness is about being fully present in the here and now, having non-judgemental awareness of our immediate experiences, inner thoughts, feelings and sensations as they occur from one moment to the next. It is about being in a relaxed state of awareness, feeling an openness within ourselves that frees our mind and allows us to observe our inner truth and experience as it interacts with the constant motion of our abundant outer world.
Through mindfulness practice we can learn to "let go" of negative beliefs and regrets from our past as well as anxieties about the future, enabling us to be more present and focused on what needs our immediate attention. We become less reactive and more intentional and effective with our choice of words and actions. As we become more attuned to our bodies and our deeper emotions, we are able to respond more consciously. Mindfulness practice is a choice we make to tap into our inner wisdom, developing awareness to support ourselves in the necessary steps toward integrated healing and transformation.
Mindfulness can be of benefit to reduce symptoms of those suffering from depression, stress and anxiety using techniques such as meditation and visualization. Studies in mindfulness practice and meditation support the benefits to both our physical and mental well-being including chronic disorders and disease.
